Richard has been teaching at Blackburn College since 1990. He is the Humanities Division Chair and the Artistic Director of Summer Repertory Theater at Blackburn College. He has an MA (Theater) from California State University and an MFA (Directing) from Liiidenwood. A true "redneck intellectual," Richard hunts, fishes, ties flies, builds his own fishing rods, and reloads his own ammo. He has been known to catch up on his play reading while waiting in a deer stand. He and his "redneck intellectual" friend Harold are writing a farcical musical about deer hunting. Richard became interested in theater in high school after joining the drama club because of a cute girl
